ELCO Weekend - Activites

Intro

We are planning a number of activities to keep you entertained over the weekend, however at this early stage it is difficult to guage numbers and therefore difficult to finalise plans for the days, so please check back closer to the weekend for a more definite itinery.

The main aim of the weekend is to relax and have fun so we are aiming to provide a range of activities to suite everyone from the first time offroader with a shiney new Land Cruiser to some of the hardened mud pluggers with severely modified battle ready beasts!

Going for a gentle drive around one of the lanes on the farmGreen Laning

Being close to the Welsh borders, Lincomb Farm is a great stepping stone for Green Laning trips into the outstanding scenery of central and North Wales.

We will be be preparing a number of routes into Wales as well as around local lanes starting from Lincomb Farm for you to drive on the Saturday or the Sunday.

It is impossible for us to provide independant individuals to lead the groups so the success of this part of the weekend will be down to experienced club members stepping forward to lead small groups for us. As with the Salisbury Plain trips we can provide details of routes (based on Memmory Map and OS maps), organise a group of followers and then it will be up to the group leader to take things from them.

As a side note, for those of you going in a group and not leading one, we try to make it a custom that the group members pay for the group leaders lunch as a sign of thanks - I hope that you will continue this on.

Easy does it!Offroad Course

The Offroad course will be open throughout the weekend however depending on the numbers and skills of those interested in using it we will need to split users into groups, so for example we may have one group doing a bit of a free for all drive around most of the course and then have another group doing some more technical driving/winching on a specific section.

One of the great things about the weekend - drivers helping each other out.We will also most likely have to split the use of the course into sessions so you may get a couple of hours slot in the morning and then the same again in the afternoon. However when not using the course we will try to organise some group drives around the rest of the tracks around the farm.

Extra Activities

During preliminary discussions about the first weekend we floated the idea of running some informal seminars/training courses covering things like vehicle recovery, winching, vehicle servicing, etc.

If you are intertested in additional activities, please put your suggestions on the registration form and we will see what we can organise.

Once we have had a chance to guage the responses we will put some form of itinery together. Please bear in mind that the courses will be organised and run by volunteers. Whilst at this stage we aren't considering any formal charging for the trainers' time and effort, I would rcommend being prepared to throw some sort of token 'beer money' into a hat for the trainer as a sign of gratitude.
